Mayor Castro and State Rep. Castro Visit Expanded Care Management Services Facility

San Antonio-based Healthcare firm unveils new facilities that accommodate its recent jobs expansion.

San Antonio, November 16, 2010.  Carenet Healthcare Services, a care management services organization for the healthcare industry, unveiled its newly expanded campus that will meet the needs of its aggressive jobs expansion program, during a ceremony with Mayor Julian Castro and State Representative Joaquín Castro.

The expanded business campus signals the company’s arrival as one of the nation’s premier care management services companies, and is designed to house up to 100 new skilled healthcare positions created by its jobs expansion efforts in the next year. The company currently employs 216 people.

Located on I-10 and Woodstone, the expanded business campus increased the company’s footprint from 18,000 sq. ft to over 30,000 sq. ft. The development includes new contact center and executive space.

Many combinations of medications suppress the central nervous system, depressing respiration or adversely affect heart rhythms.  And unfortunately if the combination proves lethal, too often it is deemed ‘natural causes’ and the pills are not held responsible.  Even small amounts of central nervous system agents can diminish lung capacity and over time leave an individual susceptible to pneumonia. The addition of antibiotics and antihistamines with existing prescriptions can further complicate the situation and stop breathing. San Antonio, TX November 2010. “In Texas, small business is big business!”  This was the declaration from the Texas Secretary of State Hope Andrade during the October 29, 2010, small business forum held in collaboration with the UTSA Economic Development Center and Speaker of the House Joe Straus’ office.  Glen Boehm, Owner/President of Moore Pressure Cleaning, was one of seven (7) San Antonio area small business owners to participate in a roundtable type forum to help the Texas legislators answer critical business questions.  Each participant was asked to bring their own set of issues and present to Secretary of State Andrade and Speaker Straus.  The concerns of these business leaders included topics like access to capital, the Texas Workforce Commission, economic growth, regulation, small business programs with less paper work, opportunities to do business with large multi-national corporations in or locating to Texas, and opportunities to do business with the governmental entities within Texas.  Mr. Boehm was quoted as saying, “why don’t we look at something unique like setting money aside similar to the Texas Enterprise Fund, and have existing, well performing small businesses apply and compete for a grant.  The money should be very specific for business growth and job creation.”  The most emotional topic within the group was the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).  Most, if not all, of the participants agreed that when an employee is terminated from a company, the “burden of proof” for legitimate termination should not fall on the small business owner.  Under the current system, an ex-employee is free to file for unemployment assistance, regardless of the cause for their termination.  The massive amount of paperwork the small business owner now has to go through in order to support the employment termination is overbearing.  Even audience members got involved as the business leaders asked the legislators present to overhaul the current TWC unemployment system.  Much praise was given to the TWC for programs like the “Texas Back to Work Program.”  Visit San Antonio Pressure Cleaning.
